WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY
June 5 is celebrated as World Environment Day all over the world and Lha Charitable Trust observed it with an open Essay Contest in Tibetan and English language on the theme Beat Plastic Pollution. The Open Essay Competition was announced to the public on 24th May and 30 people participated in the competition. The winners have been announced on our official Facebook page on June 15 and have been awarded cash prizes of INR 7000, INR 5000 and INR 3000 respectively.
There have been 7 participants in the Tibetan language among which Thinley Woeser from Varanasi won the First position while Tenzin Tharden won the Second and Seshul Rinchen Dhondup the Third place. 23 people participated in the English language among which Tenzin Yonten from Dharamsala, working at Tibet Times, got the First Position. Lobsang Dhondup and Urgen Dolma won the Second and third respectively.
As a part of our Mass Clean Up project and to keep our mother earth green, Lha volunteers, Soup Kitchen beneficiaries and staff picked up the trashes at the temple road and forested area below the Lingkor road on June 16, 2018 . With this monthly activity, Lha hopes to motivate people to be mindful of our surroundings and environment.
