{"id":2466,"date":"2019-01-02T10:07:55","date_gmt":"2019-01-02T04:37:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tibetnature.lhasocialwork.com\/en\/?p=2466"},"modified":"2019-01-02T10:12:26","modified_gmt":"2019-01-02T04:42:26","slug":"cta-responds-to-chinas-white-paper-on-tibets-environment-says-it-does-not-match-ground-realities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tibetnature.net\/en\/cta-responds-to-chinas-white-paper-on-tibets-environment-says-it-does-not-match-ground-realities\/","title":{"rendered":"CTA responds to China\u2019s White Paper on Tibet\u2019s Environment, says it does not match ground realities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/tibetnature.net\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/IMG_9332-768x497.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2467 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/tibetnature.net\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/IMG_9332-768x497.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"701\" height=\"388\" \/><\/a>DHARAMSALA, Dec 31: China\u2019s\u00a0White\u00a0Paper\u00a0on Tibet\u2019s Environment do not match ground realities, the Central Tibetan Administration(CTA) said today at a press conference held here in Dharamsala.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>DIIR\u00a0Secretaries\u00a0Sonam Norbu Dagpo and Tenzin Dhardon Sharling\u00a0presided over the press conference along with Zamlha Tempa Gyaltsen, an environmental research fellow at Tibet Policy Institute and the head of the Environmental and Developmental Desk, a think tank based in Dharamsala as the CTA released its 21-page response to China\u2019s white paper on Tibet\u2019s environment 2018.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe paper would have been a wonderful reading for someone who knows very little about Tibet, but for a regular observer, there are too many lies and factual errors and contradictions between policies and implementations,\u201d CTA President Dr Lobsang Sangay said in the foreword of his administration\u2019s response to China.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The State Council Information Office, of the Chinese communist regime published its white paper on Tibet\u2019s Environment titled, \u201cEcological Progress on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau,\u201d earlier this year on July 18 which stated that China and the Chinese government have taken ecological conservation as a top priority, and regard protection of the Plateau as a vital task for China\u2019s survival and development.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Calling it a brazen lie, the CTA said that unfortunately, weak environment policies and the lack of sincere environmental conservation efforts by the Chinese government has further exacerbated the fragile ecosystem of Tibet.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>DIIR\u00a0Secretary\u00a0and the CTA\u2019s head of response team fro China\u2019s white paper, Sonam Norbu Dagpo said that environment conservation is a universal issue that rises above political concerns.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The CTA further maintained that Tibetan people ad the Chinese government could work together for a more effective environmental conservation across Tibet and urged China to make a sincere effort to protect the Tibet, the roof of the world from further damage and degradation.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Giving an overview of the 21-page book published by the Department of Information and International Relations, Zamlha Tempa Gyaltsen the boo contains eight chapters to refute China\u2019s claims while additionally highlighting the littering problem in Tibet and natural disasters \u00a0due to China\u2019s rampant ill-advised developmental projects across the Tibetan plateau at the cost of the fragile Tibetan environment.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Zamlha Tempa Gyaltsen issued an initial response to China\u2019s white paper on July 21, three days after it was published by China\u2019s State Council Information Office.
