Lha organizes a Mass Clean-Up
Symbolizing an act of gratitude to His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama on his 80th birthday, Lha Charitable Trust (Lha) organized a mass clean-up today, in collaboration with the Clean Upper Dharamshala Program (CUDP), Tibetan Footpath Association, and Tibetan Women’s Association.
The program started from 10am with volunteers, students and staff members of Lha distributing brochures in Tibetan, Hindi, and English on environment awareness and management of waste material in the town.
There were more than 135 participants including volunteers, students, and representatives who eagerly participated in the mass clean-up to make the town cleaner and greener. This time we were able to cover the area from McLeod Ganj until the Upper TCV school campus, and area around Tsuklagkhang, the residence of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
Lha has been working together with the CUDP (which is under the Central Tibetan Administration) and other respective organizations to keep the town clean for several years. Educating the public through our environment website (www.tibetnature.net) and distribution of pamphlets and organizing mass clean-ups have been our major initiatives for the environmental cause.
Lha appreciates the cooperation and genuine support of everyone who participated. Thank you very much and we will appreciate your support in future. We will be organizing these kind of mass clean-up once a month.
