Connecting people to nature
By lobzang Chosdon; first position.
The environment is the natural world which consists of human beings, animals, plants and other living and non-living things. A clean environment is necessary to live a peaceful and healthy life. But, our environment is getting dirty day by day because of human activities, and clean environment is very important especially for our children.
A connection with nature is a sense of joined destiny and the rest of the natural world. We may be physically distant or physically close to nature, but a sense of connection keeps nature close to the heart and intimate. Nature has its own means of balance. If you observe nature, you will see that the five elements that form its basis are opposed to each other. Water destroys fire and fire destroys air. Then, there are so many species in nature, the birds, reptiles, mammals and all other different species that are hostile towards each other, yet nature balances them out. So we need to learn from nature on how to balance the opposing forces, both within ourselves and in the world around us. We get many natural things from the nature, such as wood, fresh air, fruits, vegetables, medicines and so on. So, we are directly or indirectly dependent on nature. There is a close relationship between living organisms and the environment. Ecology is the branch of science that studies the interactions between organisms and their environment. The interactions of living beings changes in the environment. Similarly, living beings also display changes within them that mirror the changes that occur in the environment. The human beings and the other living beings which exist in this world operate in the nature. People know the importance of the human relationship with nature for centuries. There are a few common themes which are as important as our connection with nature.
Human activity has caused several adverse effects on nature. The discharge of unsafe industrial waste leads to water pollution. The air is contaminated because of uncontrolled release of harmful industrial and vehicular smokes into the air. Our environment is also suffering from soil and noise pollution.
Pollution affects living things such as animals, plants and so forth that interact with living and non- living things.
To conclude, we can say that nature is God gifted and we must protect our nature as much as possible. We are already seeing that the effect of our industries is destruction of our land. We continue to disturb the world’s nature which god has given to us. Therefore, it is necessary that we foster major changes sooner rather than later.
